Mr. Sarkar awarded ‘Best CTO-2014’ Awards of Excellence in recognition of Leadership in implementation of Digital Bangladesh

The largest ICT exposition of South Asia, Bangladesh ICT Expo, 2015 was held in the Bangabandhu International Convention Center in the capital on June 17. The event was organized jointly by ICT Division of Bangladesh Government and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS). In this prevalent event the government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh first ever has announced the recognition of individuals for their dynamic leadership for implementing Digital Bangladesh that lead to development of ICT industry of our country. Mr. Tapan Kanti Sarkar, the founder president of CTO Forum Bangladesh and a fellow member of SAARC CTO Forum has been awarded as CTO of the Year 2014. The Award of ICT excellence for the year 2014 was given by honorable Finance Minister & state Minister for Post telecommunication & ICT. Mr. Sarkar has more than 32 years of experience in the field of Information and Communication Technology. He did his graduation with Honors from Chittagong University and completed Masters from Dhaka University and studied MS in Computer Science from USA. He started his career in 1980 as a Programmer in a multinational pharmaceutical company, named Bristol-Myers Squibb with overseas assignment in Egypt & USA. Then he worked as MIS Manager at Beximco Group and worked as Head of IT at IFIC Bank. Now, he is working with NCC Bank as Chief Technology Officer from 2007.Mr. Tapan drafted a concept paper to set up a National Data Center (NDC) for Ministry of ICT. He has delivered many key note papers on various critical IT Issues like Enterprise ICT Security, Online Fraud Prevention; Information Security (IS) Audit & Control, Electronic Banking & its Prospects in different IT Seminars/workshops and in training institutes within the country and abroad as well. He has long experience in strategic alignment of Business and Information Technology by applying most cost effective & innovative techniques. He successfully managed various Mission-Critical IT Projects both in Banking and Large Enterprise. In the First CIO Conference of SAARC Countries, he represented Bangladesh and presented keynote paper. Mr. Sarkar presented papers in different IT Seminars around the world on various critical IT Issues like IT Security, IT Governance, Innovative eBanking etc. Mr. Sarkar has been tireless and selfless in his efforts to make the CTO Forum a community of experts to share knowledge with each-other and discussed on different new technologies and innovation that can be implement in business enterprise to get better outcome. He leads CTO Forum Bangladesh that also arrange seminars, workshops to enhance skills and aware the mass people of using ICT in banking, which has yielded achievement to him.
